My Favorite working antique rope machine
is the New Era
The 1915 sales pamphlet that came with the 1911 patent New Era Rope Machines that stated 50,000 New Era Machines were sold in the first 4 years of production. They retailed at $5.00 each. I find this interesting, for New Era was one of the vary best home Rope Maker Machines: a good working New Era turns smoother and easier than any butter churn that I have used. Please Email me at RopeMaker@hotmail.com I am interested if you know what the original prices of other rope machine models sold. It would be interesting to research period farm magazine for that information.
Rope machines have followed
a basic style for hundreds of years. The basic shape is 3 hooks
set linear or in a triangle that turn like a crank. 4 or more
hooks can be used in this basic rope machine.
