Consistory
A Consistory is the governing
board of our congregation, bringing
together the responsibilities of the Minister, the elders and the
deacons. The minister is the ordained person who serves as
pastor,
teacher and enabler of the congregation. The minister is charged
to
build up and equip the whole church for its ministry in the
world. Our
church has six elders who are elected from the congregation and
ordained into office to be servants representing Christ. Their
primary
responsibility is to attend to all matters relating to the welfare and
good order of the church. They are called to oversee the household of
faith, encourage spiritual growth and maintain loving discipline in the
church. Elders provide for the proclamation of the gospel and the
celebration of the sacraments. Our church also has six deacons
who are
also ordained into office. Deacons give particular attention and
care
to the whole benevolence program of the congregation. They have
charge
of all gifts contributed for the benefit of the poor and distribute
them with discretion. Our Consistory meets monthly on the fourth
Thursday at 7 PM unless otherwise noted in the weekly bulletin.
