Technician Position

The Technician position includes completion of daily customer service order requests and trouble reports, locating of underground cables, and working with customers and WCTA employees to ensure services are installed and working to the highest standards.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• New installation of customer services at the customer’s home or business. Tasks include installing data and telephone wiring and installing equipment for internet, phone and digital TV services.
• Train customers in the use of WCTA services
• Troubleshoot and test WCTA services when services are not working properly, communicate with customers and resolve troubles to restore services to WCTA standards.
• Locate WCTA owned cables as needed when cable locate tickets come in from Iowa and Minnesota One Call requests.
• Assist WCTA construction crews when needed to help place new cables for WCTA customers.
• Work cooperatively with WCTA employees to achieve company goals

Qualifications and Requirements:

• High School Diploma is required
• Valid driver’s license is required
• Technical degree in Telecommunications or Information Technology is preferred
• Must have general knowledge of computers and electronics
• Must act in a professional and positive manner
